Zoom Kobe 4 (IV) MVP-Caliber Sneakers
In early 2009, Nike has unveiled Kobe Bryant's fourth signature sneaker, the Nike Zoom Kobe 4 - the perfect gear for the 2008 Most Valuable Player. At first glance, this does not look like a baller's sneakers at all. But a closer look would reveal some important details and features that make it a must-have.
Its colorway is taken from the Los Angeles Lakers theme replete with black leather upper and a combination of purple and yellow accentuation on the swoosh (or the Nike trademark that looks like a "check" mark), heel and shoelaces. The Nike Zoom Kobe 4 also has a translucent midsole, with a black reptile print found on the heel area as well as the toe box. Months later, the white version came out, and Kobe Bryant was seen wearing them in some of the Lakers' home games (especially when they are wearing the alternate white and yellow Lakers jersey). During the 2009 All-Star Game, he wore the red and white All-Star edition.
This sneaker is one of the first shoes from Nike that utilized the flywire upper to make it light in weight (even lighter than the Hyperdunk series), while not compromising stability, protection and cushioning.
This low-cut sneaker also has a LunarLite foam in the forefoot, a Phylon midsole and the patented Zoom Air in the heel, making it an extremely light and flexible shoe. If a pro in Kobe Bryant can wear them in professional basketball games, then it would be extremely comfortable footwear for the weekend warrior.
